Our maths tuition classes are for 3-16 year olds (depending on the centre). Our maths teachers are able to help build confidence in your child by enabling them to develop a clear understanding of mathematical principles through exciting and engaging lessons.
What we provide:
Our maths tuition services will vary depending on the age group. Here's a quick guide to the types of assistance our maths tutors can help with for your child's age group:
3-4 Year Olds - Fun to Learn
Focusing on developing Early Learning Goals, our lessons include fun maths games and activities which target specific skills that your child should attain by the end of Reception.
5 Year Olds - Fun to Learn
Our Reception classes follow on from our Nursery lessons and support your child's development as they move through Reception and on to Key Stage 1. Our maths activities will support your child in addition, subtraction, multiplication and division and will teach them simple methods that they can apply both at home and in school.
6-7 Year Olds - Play and Learn
Play and Learn for 6-7 year olds focuses on developing the skills that your child will learn as they progress through Years 1 and 2. Our lessons include maths activities that are closely matched to the National Curriculum and are designed to cater for every ability level. We'll support your child in addition, subtraction, multiplication and division as well as basic graphs, times tables and worded problems. As children near the end of Year 2, we'll assist them with SATs paper practise.
8-9 Year Olds - Play and Learn
Play and Learn for 8-9 year olds is focused on developing the skills that your child will learn in Years 3 and 4. The lessons that we provide include maths activities that practise all of the key skills that your child will need to know including formal addition, subtraction, multiplication and division methods, fractions, decimals, graphs, times tables, worded problems and multi-step problem solving amongst many others. These activities are carefully differentiated which allow children of varying abilities to grow and feel more confident in every area of maths.
10-11 Year Olds - Play and Learn
Play and Learn for 10-11 year olds will support your child with their preparation for Year 6 SATs exams and secondary transfer. Our maths lessons are closely matched to the National Curriculum, ensuring that all key skills are taught and practised. As part of our lessons, we cover addition, subtraction, multiplication and division methods, all forms of graphs, worded problems, fractions, decimals, percentages, measurement conversions and all other Year 5 and 6 maths topics both in written form and mental maths. Your child will also have SATs paper practise to help familiarise them with typical questions that arise, whilst also teaching them exam techniques to build up their confidence.
11-14 Year Olds - Step up to Learn
Our Step up to Learn classes are designed to support your child as they transition into secondary school. Each class will teach them the maths skills that they'll need to know as they progress through Years 7-9 and will include all aspects of algebra, conversion graphs, complex worded problems, Pythagoras, trigonometry and all other Year 7-9 topics. We'll also support your child as they prepare for their end of year exams with test paper practise, exam techniques and revision support.
14-16 Year Olds - Achieve and Succeed (GCSE)
Each of our classes consists of a careful blend of teaching, examination practise using past papers and confidence building. Our maths GCSE tuition classes are designed to complement your child's teaching at school and help them to catch up on topics that they've found difficult or reinforce and embed what has already been taught, extending them to the highest level possible. Small group tuition enables our teachers to spend time going over topics in greater detail than larger school classes allow. All of our students are provided with lesson notes which can be collated into a revision file, along with examples of questions that commonly come up in exams. Your child will also be given access to a variety of practise papers as well as online tutorials.
So as you can see, we are able to support children of all ages with their maths. Our maths tutors can help your child to understand maths in such a way that they are able to apply their skills to a range of topics with confidence and, with any areas that need improvement, we'll guide and support your child until they become confident with them.
We aspire to help every child to maximise their potential and grow in confidence. Whether it's GCSE tuition or they're just starting at nursery, Play and Learn can help your child become a confident mathematician.
